We're MotorCity Handball, Detroit’s premier club for team handball. As Michigan’s only nonprofit dedicated to the sport, our mission is to grow handball here in Detroit and make it accessible to everyone.
Do you thrive on fast paced action and love competitive team sports? This is your chance to try one of the world’s fastest growing Olympic team sports. We welcome players of all levels.

Team handball is a fast, high-energy sport where two teams pass and shoot a ball by hand to score in a goal — kind of like soccer, but with your hands.
The rules are simple and easy to learn, and most players master them in just a few session. All it takes is energy, curiosity, and the excitement to come play!
Nonstop action, lightning-fast passes, and explosive goals. It mashes up the best of basketball, soccer, and hockey into one high-energy game you’ve never played—but won’t want to stop.
It’s a team-first game where everyone matters — you learn to communicate, support each other, and build trust, making it a great way to meet people and feel part of something bigger.

We currently practice once a week at a Roberto Clemente Rec Center in Detroit. Team Handball is in a very early developing stage in the U.S and resources are limited in the community. This is an ongoing process and we hope to expand on practices as we grow.
We provide all equipment needed for practice. You will only need to wear comfortable athletic attire suitable to an active sport. We recommend indoor sneakers, shorts or track pants and a T-shirt.
Currently none of our practice facilities provide shower or lockers.
